Black Friday store hours: Best Buy, Walmart, K-Mart, and Macy's to open on Thanksgiving Day 2014 [List]

It seems like there are mixed thoughts from the public about the decision of major retailers in the U.S. to open and start offering their Black Friday deals during Thanksgiving Day itself.

The trend to start Black Friday early by opening one day ahead started when Macy's decided to open its doors to shoppers at 8 p.m. during Thanksgiving night last year.

But stores are beginning to ante up the game for holiday 2014, as reports started to circulate about retailers that have decided to open their shops as early as 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Here are the stores and schedules during Thanksgiving and Black Friday this year:

  • Kmart – Opens 48 hours until Black Friday, beginning 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
  • Dell Home – Opens at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, while there is no posted schedule for Black Friday.
  • Bealls of Florida – Opens at 4 p.m. up to 1 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, while doors open on Black Friday at 6 a.m.
  • Goody's – Starts at 4 p.m. until 1 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, then resumes at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
  • Stage Stores – Opens on Thanksgiving Day at 4 p.m. up to 1 a.m., then opens at 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Black Friday.
  • Babies "R" Us – Begins selling at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, while selected stores open at 8 p.m.
  • Toys "R" Us – Opens its doors at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
  • JC Penney – Opens at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Stein Mart – Starts their Black Friday deals at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
  • Belk, Best Buy, Bon-Ton, Carsons, Kohl's, Sports Authority and Walmart – These retail stores starts their Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving, at exactly 6 p.m.
  • Macy's – The frontrunner of this activity opens at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, while its Black Friday schedule varies according to stores.
  • Ulta – Stores open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, while doors will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
  • Lowes – Closed on Thanksgiving, but opens at 5 a.m. on Black Friday.
  • Costco – Closed on Thanksgiving, but starts selling at 10 a.m.

Other stores who refuse to open on Thursday to let their employees enjoy Thanksgiving dinners with their families include Nordstrom, Dillard's, Sam's Club, Home Depot, GameStop, T.J. Maxx, and Marshall's.
