Billy Graham's family has often been revered as a God-fearing family. Throughout the years, they've helped countless people find God and offered spiritual guidance, not to mention the charitable missions they've conducted all over the world.
Out of all of Billy's children, it appears as if Rev. Franklin Graham is poised to succeed his legacy. But Billy's granddaughter Jerushah Armfield believes her uncle should just "stick" to ministry and stay away from politics.
"I think my uncle is an incredible - he has an incredible humanitarian ministry that's been on the front lines often before a lot of ministries have been there," Armfield told CNN's Pamela Brown in interview. "I think he probably needs to stick to doing that. I think he believes he's speaking to a larger audience than he is. I think the audience he was once speaking to is starting to migrate to a little more progressive open mindedness."
Armfield added that the evangelical community has now come to represent "a branch of Christians that seemed to be a little more conservative and a little bit more hypocritical" because of their political views. These Christians, she says, have shown willingness to compromise when it comes to the personal morals of their candidate of choice.
She is particularly critical of President Donald Trump, who "has not shown" himself to be a true Christian. "My Jesus that I follow was really somebody who fought for the outliers, and I think that Trump has actually done the opposite in kind of ostracizing them," she said.
During an earlier interview with Christian Today, Franklin said there was "no question" that God had a hand in the election of Trump as President of the United States. Despite what many people think of Trump, Franklin assured people that their president is a "changed man" before God.
"I know Donald Trump and have been with him on a number of occasions," Graham said. "What you see is what you get. Politicians are pretty good at smiling and being one thing in public and then when the doors are closed, they are different people."
But Trump is the same no matter who he talks to. "He's not polished, like a lot of politicians. He's a little rough around the edges. But he means what he says. People need to understand that he's a very powerful person, very strong, he's got a very good family, great children. He's going to put together maybe one of the best teams in Washington that we have seen in years," he said.
