'The Big Bang Theory' season 9 spoilers: Love problems to be solved

Will Sheldon and Amy get back in season 9? CBS

The relationship drama will continue when "The Big Bang Theory" returns for season 9.

Both the Sheldon-Amy and Leonard-Penny relationships got quite shaky by the end of "The Big Bang Theory" season 8, and fans are expecting to see what happens to the couples in the next season of the long-running CBS comedy sitcom. Series showrunnner Steve Molaro recently talked to The Hollywood Reporter about their plans for the couples as well as the other major characters of the show.

According to Molaro, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) breakup and Sheldon's plan to propose will definitely be discussed in "The Big Bang Theory" season 9. But he refused to give any details if Sheldon will try to get Amy back.

"I don't know exactly what's going to happen but he's clearly fond of her. I don't think they're done speaking by any means. He's so fond of her — something is going to happen between them, I'm sure," the series showrunner said.

On the other hand, Molaro said that the relationship between Leonard (John Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) will remain to be strained as they drive toward Las Vegas to get married. Leonard's confession about kissing another woman deeply affected Penny, but they still went on with their journey.

According to Molaro, Leonard and Penny are "in a very interesting place and we'll find out what happens when they get there."

But aside from these relationships, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) will also have to deal with a relationship problem of his own after he professed his love to Emily (Laura Spencer) even if he was already planning to break up with her in season 8. Molaro said that Raj will have to come to terms with his relationship with Emily, and they both have a lot of issues to deal with.

Meanwhile, Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Raunch) were still unable to kick out Stuart (Kevin Sussman) in their home. How will the three continue living together when The Big Bang Theory" returns for its ninth season?
