'Better Call Saul' season 3 spoilers: Fan-favorite character from 'Breaking Bad' back in second half of season 3

Will Mike and Gus reunite in 'Better Call Saul' season 3? AMC

A fan-favorite character from "Breaking Bad" will finally appear in season 3 of the show's hit spin-off series "Better Call Saul."

Talks about the possible appearance of Giancarlo Esposito's character, Gus Fring, in the third season of "Better Call Saul" began when an avid viewer cracked an Easter egg code using the first letter of all the episode titles for season 2, which spells "FRINGSBACK."

Series co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould were surprised that their viewers discovered the code earlier than they expected. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the series co-creators confessed that they planned to announce the code "sometime over the summer." But both Gilligan and Gould are grateful for how their viewers pay attention to the show's details.

However, Gilligan revealed that Gus's return could not happen at the start of the season.

"Just because Fring's back — technically speaking, if not literally — it doesn't mean that folks should assume that they'll see him at the beginning of Season 3," the series co-creator said.

Gilligan also explained to HitFix that they did not intend to bring Gus back in the final episode of "Better Call Saul" season 2. Instead, they are hoping to reintroduce the character at the latter part of the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, both series co-creators told "Talking Saul" host Chris Hardwick that fans will also learn about the identity of the person who placed a note that reads "Don't" in Mike Ehrmantraut's (Jonathan Banks) car when he was about to kill Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis).

"I think we're gonna find out who wrote that note — at least Mike will," Gould stated during the interview on the talk show.

Meanwhile, fans are also waiting for further statements from the show's lead star Bob Odenkirk, who is known for being generous in providing plot teasers for the next season of "Better Call Saul," which is expected to return to AMC next year.
