"Battleborn" open beta commences Gearbox Software/Sony

The season pass and the digital deluxe edition of "Battleborn" are now officially available for pre-purchase. For $75, gamers can take home a digital copy of the first-person shooter along with the season pass.

The $20 season pass includes for "Battleborn" includes five add-on packs, each for $4.99, which comes with one exhilarating Story Operation along with a whole new set of hero skins and taunts.

As per "Battleborn" developer Gearbox Software, these PvE Story Operations "will be highly replayable solo, or co-operatively online and splitscreen with your friends, and will let you experience new side-stories during the fight to save the last star in the universe."

Meanwhile, the "Battleborn" open beta has officially commenced. Players will start with seven unlocked heroes and get more access as they progress in the game.

Apart from getting an early taste of "Battleborn," PS4 players participating in the testing will receive the first add-on DLC free of charge. They will also get the privilege to unlock new character Alani the minute she becomes available in the game. Alani is a member of the Eldrid faction who is both a healer and a warrior.

"As a warrior from a planet with vast seas, Alani's attacks and abilities revolve around her power to control water to dish out pain, or heal her fellow Battleborn," Gearbox Software described the character on the game's website.

PS4 players should have access to "Battleborn" hero and mech-driving penguin Toby during the beta. On top of all that, PS4 beta players will get a hero unlock key that will allow them to unlock any hero in "Battleborn."

The "Battleborn" open beta allows players to try the game's Story Mode as well as team up with four other pals to in a co-op in two episodes namely "The Algorithm" and "Void's Edge."

Apart from joining forces, they can also square against other "Battleborn" players in a pair of competitive multiplayer modes titled Incursion and Meltdown.

"Battleborn" will be released on May 3, 2016.
