'Batman v Superman' movie plot news: Empire's magazine cover highlights superheroes' conflict

The biggest heroes of DC's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film graces the latest cover of Empire magazine.

Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman stand side-by-side on the cover, but their conflict is highlighted because they are featured on different sides of the spectrum. Gotham's legendary Caped Crusader can be seen at the left side of the cover, with the dark, gloomy cityscape on his background. Meanwhile, Superman's lighter, more colorful picture is placed on the right, with the Metropolis seen behind his back.

Film director Zack Snyder gave his insight about both characters in the September 2015 issue of the magazine. According to Snyder, Batman's dark, solemn nature makes him unique.

"There is just this gravitas to Batman. He is operatic," the filmmaker said.

Meanwhile, according to Cavill, Superman gets varied opinions from different people, saying, "In this movie, everyone has split into different directions as to how they feel about this alien. Some people love him, some hate him. Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?"

The publication's feature about the film offers an extensive access to the film's production process. It also reportedly focuses on Snyder's take on making the movie, as well as his plans for the future installments in the growing DCverse movie line-up.

"I want all the other directors of the other films to be able to stretch their legs and do what they want, but at the same time there is a big interconnected universe," the director said.

"Batman v Superman" is the first film that will feature both superheroes. DC's most popular heroes are apparently at odds with one another, but they will also have to face another threat that will put the world in a bigger disaster.

Aside from Batman and Superman, other iconic DC characters will also appear in the movie, including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). These characters are also reported to be featured in standalone films in the future.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will premiere on March 25, 2016.
