'Avengers: Infinity War' spoilers: Funko POP leak hints at Thor's new weapon

Chris Hemsworth's Thor may really wield a new weapon in "Avengers: Infinity War."

A concept art shown in the film's behind-the-scenes video (pictured above) has already teased so, depicting the God of Thunder holding what appears to be an ax alongside Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper). Now, another evidence just surfaced, this time coming from a Funko POP mini figure that got leaked ahead of time.

As with any Marvel films, "Infinity War" will have its own selection of Funko POPs, and someone just happened to get ahold of Thor's then posted it on Reddit. His overall look is still intact from "Thor: Ragnarok" with his short hair and scar on the right eye. However, there is one big addition in this version: a new weapon.

It can be recalled that the God of Thunder 's hammer, the Mjolnir, was destroyed by Hela (Cate Blanchett) during their battle. The weapon in the mini-figure is hard to make out considering it is small and is behind a plastic, but it appears to be some kind of combination of ax and warhammer. Check out a photo of the toy below:

According to We Got This Covered, the weapon could be the Jarnbjorn. Dubbed as the Wrecker of Worlds, the Jarnbjorn is a Dwarven-forged battle ax that Thor carried in the comics long before he was worthy of picking up his precious hammer. Later on, he reverted back to using it after Jane Foster became the new Thor.

Of course, Funko POPs do not necessarily reflect the content of their tie-in property. Thor is missing his eyepatch in the mini-figure, after all. So, fans should still take this with a grain of salt. It is worth noting, though, that this is not the first toy hinting at Thor's new weapon. Last month, SuperBroMovies also shared a leaked "Avengers: Infinity War" LEGO sets, featuring the character and a Jarnjborn-looking ax.

Whether or not the speculations are true remains to be confirmed, but it does make sense to give Hemsworth's character a new weapon in time for the biggest battle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. As the title hints, "Infinity War" pits the superheroes against Thanos (Josh Brolin) as he attempts to collect all Infinity Stones to possess all the phenomenal cosmic power.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, "Avengers: Infinity War" hits theaters on May 4.
