'Avengers 4' plot spoilers: Major Marvel character dies? Casting call hints at funeral scene

Death may be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or so a recent casting call hints. While the third installment of the "Avengers" series has yet to debut on the silver screen, Marvel is already casting extras for what seems to be a funeral scene for its sequel.

MCU Exchange picked up a casting call from Central Georgia Casting, revealing that the studio is currently looking for "mourners."

"Mourners: Looking for men and women over the age of 18, all ethnicities, to portray mourners.," the listing says. "Especially looking for good character looks and expressive faces."

They are looking for new faces, meaning applicants should not have appeared in the franchise before. Hopefuls will be needed in the Atlanta area from Wednesday, Oct. 18 through Friday, Oct. 20. Directors Anthony and Joseph Russo themselves will be picking who will be part of the scene.

Of course, it does not explicitly say that they will be shooting a funeral scene or whose funeral it will be. However, with the movie directors' involvement in the casting process, many are speculating that this could be a service to someone important to the MCU. "Avengers Infinity War" would see Thanos' impending appearance and the possible unification of the Infinity Stones, after all.

While it is very likely for the Avengers to win the anticipated final battle, fans are convinced that their victory would come at a cost. Plus, a lot of the franchise star' contracts are due to expire soon, so at least one death in the future does not seem far-fetched. Now, many are wondering which character will soon be biting the dust.

Unfortunately, the plot of "Avengers 4" is still very much a mystery at this point. Some predict it could be Captain America (Chris Evans), as Evans revealed this April that his contract ends after the fourth "Avengers" film. Others, on the other hand, think it could be Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) who effectively launched the MCU in 2008. Only time will tell.

Marvel will release the yet-to-be-titled "Avengers 4" on May 3, 2019.
