'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date: Ymir's role vital in new season

"Attack on Titan" creator Hajime Isayama has revealed juicy secrets in the manga that will potentially dictate the direction of "Attack on Titan" season 2, which, up to now, still has no premiere date.

Isayama revealed that a character that has always been there will finally step out of the shadows with a big secret about the Titans. Ymir, who hasn't enjoyed long screen time in the anime, apparently holds the key to the story's "ultimate conclusion."

[Spoiler Alert!] Ymir was limitedly presented in the anime. In "Attack on Titan" season 2, she is expected to turn up more frequently now or at least surprise everyone with a bombshell will change everyone's lives.

In the "Clash of the Titans" arc, Ymir was revealed to be a Titan shifter and has unparalleled knowledge about how Titans and humans came to be. She could very well be the tangible connection between the world of the humans and the bloodlust-driven realm of the Titans.

The exciting part is that Ymir is a member of the Survey Corps, helping out the rest to rid of the Titans that literally eat up the population. In the story arc expected to be told in "Attack on Titan" season 2, it looks like her human is far stronger than her giant, cannibalistic self.

It has always been said that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will delve into the ability of a number of humans to transform into the killer flesh eaters that Levi and his group have struggled to battle in the previous season. Ymir's case is unique because she is friends with the Survey Corps.

The new season, however, still has no premiere date. Last year, it was announced that new episodes of the hit anime will be released in 2016. Up until now, details about this haven't been narrowed down.
