'Assassin's Creed Origins' news: New game plus to be added at a later date

"Assassin's Creed Origins" takes players to the great deserts of Ancient Egypt. Ubisoft

Fans of "Assassin's Creed Origins" that are clamoring for more content are in for a treat as Ubisoft has stated that they plan on adding a new game plus mode soon.

Quietly announced on the "Assassin's Creed" subreddit, community manager domvgt responded to a fan's inquiry regarding the possibility of adding a new game plus mode.

"New Game + is coming," they wrote, adding, "We'll have more information to share soon."

While it is not the most detailed response, it is still confirmation from an official Ubisoft employee that the much-desired new game plus mode is under development and on the way.

The long-running franchise has never had a new game plus mode before, so it is hard to say what players should expect. However, if it follows traditional new game plus modes from other games, the most likely scenario is being able to carry over equipment, items, and maybe even abilities.

This is not the only update that players have to look forward to as February will see the release of the game's Discovery Tour mode.

First announced in September 2017, Discovery Tour is a unique educational game mode that allows players to explore the world of Ancient Egypt and read up on the different historical facts and stories that the game is built upon.

"A dedicated mode separate from the main game, Discovery Tour features dozens of guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists. Each focuses on a different subject, including the Great Pyramids, the life of Cleopatra, mummification, and more," Ubisoft wrote when they first announced this mode.

"Additionally, players will be able to roam the entire game world without constraints or threats, exploring a sprawling landscape that includes Memphis, Alexandria, the Sand Sea, and the Giza Plateau at their own pace," the company added.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Discovery Tour will be a free expansion for "Assassin's Creed Origins" and will be released on all platforms on Feb. 20.
