After so many delays, the "Assassin's Creed" movie will soon start filming. In an interview with Coming Soon, actor Michael Fassbender confirmed that the script for the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game franchise is in development.

"You say it's a long time but what I've found — it's all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time," the actor who will portray the role of Desmond Miles shared. "It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It's exciting. It's going to start this year, we'll be filming in September."

However, the actor refused to provide further information regarding the rest of the cast and the location of the film.

He also joked about his possible role or roles in the movie, saying, "You don't know that. Don't listen to what they tell you, that's the first rule."

The planned "Assassin's Creed" movie is based on the video game franchise from Ubisoft. It follows the life of lead character Desmond Miles, who comes from the bloodlines with rich historical value, that of the most influential Assassins from The Order. Miles is kidnapped by Abstergo, the company run by the Templar Order, to extract his DNA memory to get the much-needed information that they can use for their grand scheme.

Aside from Fassbender, French actress Marion Cotillard is also reported to appear as the film's female lead. However, there are currently no further details about her possible role and her involvement in the movie.

The "Assassin's Creed" movie will be helmed by "The Showtown Murders" director Justin Kurzel, and is written by Will Collage, Adam Cooper and Michael Lesslie.

The film is expected to premiere on Dec. 21, 2016.
