'Arrow' season 3 spoilers: Felicity breaks down after learning about Oliver's death when episodes return in January

If "Arrow" fans are still brokenhearted about the alleged death of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) after his tragic duel with Ra's al Ghul (Matt Nable), then his lady love Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) will probably feel worse once she hears the sad news.

TVLine teased about Felicity's heart-wrenching moment, which viewers can expect to see once "Arrow" returns in January. According to the spoiler, Rickards admitted that one of the scenes in "Arrow" season 3 episode 10 left her drained. This could mean that she was crying incessantly during the entire midseason opener episode.

Felicity and Oliver's relationship continues to have a rough patch this season. When the premiere episode of season 3 was aired, the couple was breaking up. But right before Oliver admitted that he still loves her, his untimely demise just had to happen.

But it is highly unlikely that Oliver is actually dead, which is why fans should not worry about the status of the "Olicity" tandem. "Arrow" executive producer Marc Guggenheim stated that the Lazarus Pit could be introduced when the series returns in January, which means that Oliver's life could be restored. Although the producer did not confirm that the TV adaptation will conform to the Lazarus Pit angle found in the DC Universe, he did say that it could actually happen.

"I think there's a way to do it. That's not necessarily to say that we will do it but yes, I think there's a way to do it that's in keeping with the show, but that's a far cry from me saying 'Yes, we're going to do it'," the executive producer said.

Guggenheim also said that Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) will have a major role when "Arrow" season 3 returns. An image of Ray was shared, showing him donning an Atom suit busy saving the city, which possibly means that he will fill the Arrow's role until his return.

The promo of the upcoming midseason premiere episode titled "Left Behind" also shows that a member of the League of Assassins is looking for Oliver's body.

"Arrow" season 3 returns on Jan. 21.
