While "Aquaman" is not slated to arrive in the theaters until late 2018, some details of the movie have already been released to the public. According to the latest reports, the upcoming Jason Momoa-starrer has ushered Dolph Lundgren into the cast as he is set to breathe life into the character of King Nereus.

According to reports, the principal photography of "Aquaman" may begin in Australia next month. While the movie has yet to begin taking shape, some details have already been made available to the public recently, and the latest of which is that the upcoming DC and Warner Bros movie will include Lundgren to play the role of King Nereus.

To the uninitiated, King Nereus was an accomplished warrior of Mera's (Amber Heard in the upcoming movie) father and the king of the undersea colony of Xebel in the comic books. As it was Xebel's tradition to have the head of its military marry a royal daughter once the king is dead, Nereus eventually earned the right to marry Mera when the king died. However, before the king passed away, he sent Mera on a mission to kill the would-be king of the Atlanteans, Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Instead of carrying out her mission, though, Mera fell in love with Aquaman.

With the upcoming movie version of "Aquaman" bringing in King Nereus from the comic books, it goes without saying that the movie will feature a sort of a love triangle. While Mera never really got the chance to marry King Nereus, he considers her his wife.

It is not only King Nereus that Aquaman will have to contend with in the movie, though. After all, it's already public knowledge that the movie will have Patrick Wilson playing the role of Orm, Aquaman's villainous half-brother, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as another Aquaman classic villain, Black Manta.

The movie also includes Nicole Kidman as Aquaman's mother, Willem Dafoe as his adviser, scientist Dr. Vulko, and Temuera Morrison, the Atlantean king's adoptive father.

"Aquaman" is slated to arrive in the theaters on Dec. 21, 2018.
