The popularity of wearable devices has started to pick up this year, and more electronics manufacturers are coming up with their own versions of smartwatches these past months.

In September, Apple Inc. announced that they are finally producing the first product to break into the wearable device market, and they unveiled the Apple Watch. The company plans to release the smartwatch early next year, but there is limited information about the details surrounding it as of the moment.

Consumers would like to know how the Apple Watch can compete with other wearable devices that are already available in the market today, including one of the most highly favored smartwatches from Motorola called the Moto 360.

Can the Apple Watch match up with the Moto 360?  Here is a comparison between the specs and features of these two wearable electronic devices:

Apple Watch

Initially called the iWatch by speculators, the Apple Watch will reportedly come with a plethora of features that cater to the needs of business and sports-minded people. It will have exclusive Apple apps like Activity, HealthKit, as well as the mobile payment system called the Apple Pay.

According to the details released by the company, the Apple Watch will come in two sizes. The smaller one is reportedly around 38 mm and has a 340 x 272 display, while the larger model is 42 mm with 390 x 312 resolution. The company decided to come up with two options in consideration of the wrist sizes and preferred style of the consumers.

The Apple Watch will reportedly come out sometime in spring 2015.

Moto 360

Designed with the classic round watch in mind, the Moto 360 made its debut in the U.S. market last September. It has a 1.56-inch IPS circular touchscreen display with a clear resolution of 320 x 290 pixels. The Moto wearable device is equipped with an OMAP 3 processor with a functional 4 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM. However, it is better known for its chic, round-face design.

At this point, the world is waiting to see the Apple Watch on hand to know if it can beat the Moto 360's functionality.
