After rolling out Android 5.0.2 Lollipop to the 2013 and 2014 versions of the Moto X early this month, Motorola Mobility is now planning to start updating the Moto X 2014 with the 5.1 version of the Android mobile operating system.

At the moment, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto X 2014 is only available for several Pure Edition models, but it comes with a surprisingly long list of improvements for the said device, as posted on the company's official blog site

Some of the changes and improvements that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto X 2014 include:

Notifications and Interruptions

  • Prevent interruptions until the next alarm, particularly if the alarm is set within the upcoming 12 hour time frame. This means that the user will not miss an alarm if the 'No interruptions' option had been chosen.
  • Additional icons are included to the volume settings panel that goes with those shown in the status bar.

Quick Settings

  • Users can easily select from varied Wi-Fi access points or pair different Bluetooth devices with the added pull-down menu on each tile.

Camera

  • The Android 5.1 Lollipop update lessens the noise in low-light shots as well as enhances the responsiveness of the viewfinder of the secondary front-facing camera for selfie shots.

Device Protection

  • The devices that are lost or stolen will stay locked until the user signs in using their Google account, even if a third party decides to reset the factory settings.

Meanwhile, some of the bug fixes that are included in the new Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto X 2014 are solutions for: alarms not going off; no audio for the ringer when making an outgoing call; constant restarting when watching Netflix; frequent crashing when Chrome is launched; Wi-Fi connectivity problems; as well as general connectivity issues.

Motorola Mobile also announced that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update roll out for other Moto X 2014 devices other than the Pure Edition will be launched soon.
