Destructive Creations, the developer of the upcoming game, "Ancestors Legacy," announced that the open beta version is now available and that the game is set to officially release on May 22.

"Ancestors Legacy" is a squad-based real-time strategy (RTS) video game that features the battle for dominance of Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Germans and Slavs across northern Europe. The multiplayer open beta version is now available on Steam, which includes all four nations as well as three maps ranging in size from two to six players. The game will officially launch on May 22 for the PC and Xbox One.

"Ancestors Legacy" is described as "historically accurate." The game is developed with the help of Unreal Engine 4 technology, which rendered cinematic and impressive details to the game's real-time technology features including resource management and "base building with large-scale and squad-based duels across battlefields."

Players will take on the role of an army commander of one of the four battling nations — Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German and Slav — in a series of campaigns. Players will be tasked to conquer, raid and pillage enemy camps, villages and towns. Furthermore, according to Steam, to win the game, players must utilize all the available tactical options, use one's environment strategically and to one's advantage as well as manage well one's armies to boost morale.

In an interview with Wccftech, Destructive Creation's producer and designer Tomek Gop expounded on why advance tactical options, terrain and morale will help players win. He said that the game will be operating based on the harsh reality of wars — the concept of fairness is an illusion. Moreover, he said that even though squads with the same level or the same armor can be seen as "even" when they battle against each other, advanced tactical option, terrain and morale influence the combat conditions.
