Amiibo news: New 'Super Smash Bros.' and 'Animal Crossing' Amiibo figures?

More Amiibo characters are coming, based on several leaked promo materials from different retail shops.

Just days after the announcement of the official release dates of the upcoming Amiibo figures during the Nintendo Direct event last week, several photos showing six new Amiibo characters were been spotted, and they seemed to have been taken from different retailer kiosks.

In a report from Perfectly-Nintendo that compiled the latest Amiibo leak roundup, a promotional display was spotted at a Target store showing three new unannounced Amiibo characters. These include Ryu and Famicom R.O.B from the "Super Smash Bros." franchise as well as Timmy & Tommy Nook from the "Animal Crossing" video game series.

The report noted that "Super Smash Bros." creator Masahiro Sakurai confirmed back in June that all characters of the game's Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, including those featured in the DLC, will have their own Amiibo. However, seeing the Famicom R.O.B figure outside Japan came as a surprise since it was only released in the country.

Both the Ryu and the Famicom R.O.B. Amiibo are expected to be announced at the special livestream broadcast for "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in December, while there are no details yet regarding the release announcement for the Timmy & Tommy Nook Amiibo figure.

Meanwhile, two other "Animal Crossing" characters were spotted in a Target ad by an Amiibo enthusiast. Based on a post on Instagram, @amiibohunterjay shared a photo taken by another Amiibo fan @amiibo.andrew, where the Amiibo figures of Rover and Kapp'n can be seen. Again, there is no official release date for the upcoming toy figurine versions of "Animal Crossing characters" at the moment.

In addition, another leaked photo spotted the Amiibo version of the "Fire Emblem" character Roy, which will allegedly be released exclusively via GameStop. Roy is also featured as a DLC character in "Super Smash Bros."

Nintendo has yet to confirm if the alleged new Amiibo characters will actually come out soon.
