'American Horror Story' season 6 spoilers: Ryan Murphy teases theme for new season

Ryan Murphy shares his concepts for "American Horror Story" season 6 FX

"American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy is yet to settle on a story for season 6 of the hit FX anthology, but he is inclined on themes like "innocence of children" and a brand new world to be at play in season 6.

"We haven't landed on it yet," Murphy said during PaleyFest, adding that they are working on two ideas at once. "If you look at horror tropes, the innocence of children, that sort of wide-eyed entryway into some world is always very dramatic and satisfying," he explained.

Previous reports have also indicated that "American Horror Story" season 6 will be set in two timelines: the past and the present. This offers an opportunity for the cast of the show to portray two characters in the story, just like how Sarah Paulson, who played both Sally and Billie Dean (her character in season 1) in season 5, "Hotel."

Murphy has hinted that characters in the past season may come and go in "American Horror Story" season 6. He played this card in season 5, and it was a home run for fans.

"The deeper we go into the series we will see that it is a definite universe and all of the worlds are connected," he teased.

He suggested that all the individuals fans met in the horror anthology exist in one big universe. This concept allows Murphy to recycle characters from the previous chapters of the series and have them show up in new seasons.

With this concept at play, there are loads of possibilities for "American Horror Story" season 6 in terms of who gets to be in it. So far, Angela Bassett and Lady Gaga have confirmed their return.

Other cast members including Paulson, Finn Wittrock, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Denis O'Hare and Kathy Bates are all expected to star in "American Horror Story" season 6.

"American Horror Story" season 6 will premiere sometime in October.
