The opening date of "American Horror Story: Hotel" is drawing near, and series co-creator Ryan Murphy and the cast revealed several exciting details about the characters that viewers will get to meet.

At the recently concluded 2015 Television Critics' Association summer press tour, Lady Gaga's role was finally disclosed. In a report by Entertainment Weekly, Murphy said that the pop superstar will play the role of a hotel owner named Elizabeth. She is an extremely rich and highly educated woman with the penchant for the arts, fashion, and people.

Murphy also exposed the character's dark side, saying that "she has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode and plays out over the course of the season." He also revealed that the musical icon will begin filming for the series early this week.

Meanwhile, returning "AHS" actresses Kathy Bates and Sarah Paulson both said that their characters are not going to get along this season. Bates shared that her character Iris manages the hotel and she abhors Paulson's character Sally; while the sensual but drug dependent Sally also hates Iris for reasons that will be revealed during the early parts of the season.

Chloe Sevigny and Wes Bentley portray the roles of husband and wife John and Alex Lowell. The couple is dealing with a great loss in their family, and John's profession as a detective leads them to book a room in the hotel to investigate a series of ghastly murders.

Angela Bassett also described her character Ramona Royale as someone who has a very strong connection with Lady Gaga's Elizabeth. She and Elizabeth also share a very close and nasty relationship with Matt Bomer's Donovan.

Aside from the character reveal, the series co-creator also shared that the upcoming season of the popular horror anthology has a strong connection with "American Horror Story: Murder House."

"This season harkens back to the first season and is much more rooted in the honest, primal fears that the first season was," Murphy stated.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" focuses on the story of a downtown Los Angeles hotel. It deals with a number of horrors commonly known in the U.S., including the rampant case of substance addiction. Murphy shared that the season was inspired by the concept of a hotel surveillance camera that captured a girl getting into one of the elevators of a haunted hotel and was never seen again.

The season premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7, on FX with the episode titled "Checking In."
