Everyone loved him as the overly confident womanizer Schmidt in FOX's hit sitcom "New Girl," but Max Greenfield will start showing his darker, creepier side in FX's "American Horror Story: Hotel."

Series co-creator Ryan Murphy recently confirmed in his Twitter account that the critically acclaimed comedian will be joining the cast of the latest installment of the popular horror anthology.

Although Greenfield's role is still unannounced at the moment, this will be the first time that the actor will portray a darker character. Based on Murphy's tweet, Greenfield's character will be checking into the hotel, but he might not be checking out.

The actor's past TV appearances include roles in light drama series like "Gilmore Girls," "Veronica Mars," "The OC," "Greek," "Ugly Betty," as well as "The Mindy Project."

Greenfield will join the show's star-studded cast, including veteran "AHS" stars Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, and Chloe Sevigny. Other newbies in the series include Cheyenne Jackson, Matt Bomer, and pop superstar Lady Gaga, who will mark her first major TV series acting career.

Just recently, Murphy informed his Twitter followers that Paulson will be "the baddest bad girl of them all," which could mean that she will be the main antagonist in this installment of "AHS." Paulson's recent appearance in the horror anthology was in "American Horror Story: Freak Show," where she portrayed the role of conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler.

Earlier spoilers claim that the upcoming season will focus on the mysteries that happen inside a fully functional hotel, where a lot of bad things happen.

The production for "American Horror Story: Hotel" will start in late summer, where most of the scenes will be shot in Los Angeles. The season will run for 13-episodes beginning October.
