Another key role in "American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson" has been filled. Critically acclaimed actor Rob Morrow has recently been tapped to portray the role of Barry Scheck in the upcoming crime drama based on the O.J. Simpson murder trial.

Scheck is known as one of Simpson's defense lawyers who helped him win the highly publicized double murder case in 1995. He was also the co-founder of Innocence Project with his co-counsel on the Simpson defense team, Peter Neufeld. They aimed to push the use of DNA evidence to prove a person's innocence during the time when the technology was not yet widely utilized in court.

Morrow, more popularly known for his portrayal of Dr. Joel Fleischman in the 1990's hit "Northern Exposure" TV series, is presently featured in the five-part "Texas Rising" miniseries from History. He portrays another real-life character, Colonel James Fannin, during the Texas Revolution.

Morrow will join a star-studded cast comprised of Cuba Gooding Jr. as the former football player O.J. Simpson, John Travolta as Simpson's defense lawyer Robert Shapiro, Courtney B. Vance as another defense team member Johnnie Cochran, and Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark. Simpson's other defense lawyer, Robert Kardashian, is portrayed by David Schwimmer, and his wife Kris is played by Selma Blair.

The series will particularly focus on the events that happened inside the courtroom during the alleged "trial of the century," wherein Simpson had to defend himself from the murder charges for the death of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ronald Lyle Goldman.

"American Crime Story" is created by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski as the latest true crime anthology for FX, with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk as its executive producers. It was initially intended to air on FOX, but was later on turned over to FX.

"American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson" is expected to air sometime in 2016.
