Amanda Knox's murder case may be one of the longest and most controversial criminal trials in the past decade, but there are no signs that it will be over anytime soon.

Earlier this year, Knox and her Italian ex-boyfriend Rafaelle Sollecito were found guilty for the second time after the Italian court overturned the former couple's acquittal on Oct. 3, 2011. The second conviction required them to serve a 25- to 28-year-sentence in prison.

They will have to face the highest court of appeals in Italy once again on March 25, 2015 to prove their innocence over the brutal killing of Knox's roommate Meredith Kercher on Nov. 1, 2007.

Back in July, Sollecito's legal team was allegedly planning to use a new plan to prove that he deserves a not guilty verdict for killing the British national. According to reports, the Italian will be recanting his earlier statements that he was with Knox during the time of Kercher's murder. There were "anomalies in her version of events" based on the computer and phone records obtained by the courts, he said.

Some people believe that the American co-ed is innocent but the Italian courts continue to pin the murder on her allegedly because she is a foreigner in their country.  An article published by the New York Observer said that Knox could be the most convenient person to be accused of the crime because she is an immigrant despite the lack of evidences pointing to her involvement in it.

Knox's past trials were widely sensationalized worldwide, and the impending one is also expected to get the same treatment.

Her legal battles became a subject of several films, including the new Michael Winterbottom movie "The Face of an Angel." This film features British model-turned-actress Cara DeLevigne, Kate Beckinsale, and Daniel Bruhl. The movie premiered at the BFI London Film Festival that was shown at the Odeon West End in London's Leicester Square.

Knox was reportedly living in Seattle with boyfriend James Terrano, but new photos surfaced late September wherein she was seen kissing an aspiring rock musician named Colin Sutherland in Coney Island, New York.
