Prior to the midseason premiere of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3, what became of the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Grant Ward after being abducted by the fearsome alien breed called Beast down on the planet of Maveth was revealed by actress Lily Henstridge.

Ward has been transformed into the newest and one of the most formidable adversaries in the series. "And now Ward is Hive and takes on the memories of people he's killed, so that's going to have some interesting situations," the actress said during the Wizard World Portland.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." introduces a twist to the character. In the Marvel Comics, Hive is a Hydra experiment made of genetically engineered parasites that were fed to a Hydra agent, who, in turn, was made physically stronger.

He takes the form of thousands squirming tentacles (formed by the parasites) and is basically the complete embodiment of what Hydra is all about. In "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3, Hive is a combination of Ward and a powerful ancient creature that has existed for centuries on Maveth. This very creature is worshipped on the alien planet, hinting that Hive is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Ward's memories will remain with him even as he continues to function as Hive. This only makes him a bigger threat as he and the terrifying inhabitant in his body have the same entity as target – S.H.I.E.L.D.

With Ward's emergence as Hive and as Hydra's most powerful weapon, Daisy's Inhumans team is also being organized. The dark turn of events also gave Caulson a renewed motivation to bring Hydra down once and for all.

A promo for the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 episode 11 called "Bouncing Back" sees the top agent in talks with the president of the United States about the concern. William Sadler will be reprising his president role in "Iron Man 3" for this one.

More comic book characters are also being added on the show such as Slingshot to be played by Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Absorbing Man to be portrayed by Patrick Wade and General Glenn Talbot to be played by Adrian Pasdar.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 episode 11 "Bouncing Back" airs March 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
