'Agent Carter' season 2: Peggy heads to Tinseltown, Whitney Frost to wreak havoc

TV was big on female superheroes last year and it won't be any different this year with "Agent Carter" season 2 kicking off soon. This time, Peggy heads to Hollywood but not for the glitz and glamor (which she'll enjoy anyway) but for some crime-fighting.

Executive producer Michele Fazekas revealed that bringing Peggy to this bright new location has always been discussed even in the first season. Apart from having the agent experience the bright lights, there's another reason why Tinseltown is the new setting.

"We really wanted to keep the Peggy-Jarvis (James D'Arcy) relationship going because that was the central relationship of the show. It was a very organic way to keep him involved in the show," Fazekas told Entertainment Weekly on their plan for "Agent Carter" season 2.

Since "Agent Carter" season is set in 1947, it also makes sense to bring the duo in LA because at that time scientific and technological breakthroughs were all over the place. This lays out the story seamlessly for Howard Stark moving there and Jarvis starting out his Beverly Hills estate.

"It works on a lot of levels and really infuses a nice new look into the show. It doesn't feel like a different show, but it looks beautiful, even down to the wardrobe and hair and makeup. I love the look of it," Fazekas added.

While the first season of the Marvel Comics TV adaptation was famed for handling sexism gracefully, Fazekas and fellow EP Tara Butters teased that "Agent Carter" season 2 will be more about "reinventing yourself."

This plays out well not only with Peggy facing head on the brightness of La-La Land in "Agent Carter" season 2 but also to start anew as she moves past the death of Steve Rogers aka the Cap.

Apart from the beauty and the charm of LA, "Agent Carter" season 2 will be unique in the sense that it also delves well into LA's scientific goldmine in the form of a new adversary, the actress slash scientific genius Whitney Frost.

"Agent Carter" season 2 premieres on ABC today, Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. ET with an episode titled "A View in the Dark"
