Acer Iconia Tab 8 vs Nokia N1 comparison: Tablet watch

Gadget watchers are already excited to try Nokia's very first venture into the tablet market, after it relinquished its smartphone manufacturing firm to Microsoft in the middle of the year. But can it stand against other more established tablet devices today?

One of the most revered tablets that was rolled out this year is the Acer Iconia Tab 8. Released on September 2014, its full-HD display as well as its one-of-a-kind touch controls make it one of the most favorite tablets sold at a more affordable price.

But the Finnish company would also want their brand new product to be known in the market as a highly competitive device. Nokia's new tablet, slated to come out early next year, will reportedly offer new specs that are very interesting. But buyers need to get a hold of the device before they finally say that the Nokia N1 is the item to have.

Nonetheless, here's a look at the comparison between the two tablets:

Display and Body Dimensions

The two tablets almost have the same sizes.

Acer's IConia Tab 8 comes with an 8-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1200 x 1920 pixel resolution and 283 ppi pixel density. It weighs 12.70 ounces and measures 8.46 x 5.12 x 0.33 inches.

Meanwhile, the Nokia N1 is a bit smaller with its 7.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and 324 ppi pixel density. The overall measurement is 7.90 x 5.46 x 0.27 inches and weighs 11.22 ounces.

Internal Features

The Acer Iconia Tab 8 is packed with an Intel Atom Z3745 chipset with quad-core 1.86 GHz processor. It comes in two internal memory packages — the 16 GB and 32 GB variants — with 2 GB RAM, but both can be expanded up to 32 GB through their respective microSD slots. It runs using the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

The Nokia N1 is fitted with Intel Atom Z3580 chipset with quad-core 2.3 GHz processor and PowerVR G6430 GPU. It does not have any microSD slot, but the device comes with 32 GB internal memory and 2 GB RAM. Since the device will come out next year, it will run using the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Camera

The Acer Iconia Tab 8 features a 5-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter, while the Nokia N1 has a better 8-megapixel primary camera as well as a 5-megapixel secondary camera.
