'13 Reasons Why' season 2 spoilers: Dylan Minnette teases Clay potential new love interest, more flashbacks of Hannah

Clay and Hannah in "13 Reasons Why" Netflix

Clay (Dylan Minnette) did not get a chance at love in "13 Reasons Why" with Hannah's (Katherine Langford) death, but he may finally have one next season, just with someone else.

Talking to Seventeen about the Netflix drama's sophomore run, Minnette teased his character may find himself attracted to a different but familiar girl this time around. "I can't say too much, but Skye is still around and in the picture and there's a chance that her and Clay could be friends or more," he said. "That's something you'll learn pretty quickly when the season starts."

There is not much known about Skye (Sosie Bacon) in the first season. Fans know her as the girl who works as a barista at the coffee shop Clay and his fellow students frequent. However, it has been clear in the past episodes that she and Clay have a history. It turned out they go way back and not only were they friends, they were more like best friends. It was until they entered high school that their friendship fell apart, and they both seem to blame the other for it.

It remains to be seen what happens next between them, but as Minnette teased, fans can expect the characters to reconcile and be closer in "13 Reasons Why" season 2.

Meanwhile, there will be more flashbacks of Hannah as well, and those will piece together the tidbits fans have seen and learned about Langford's character in the past season. "It would have been weird to end Hannah's story in season one because we only heard very small tidbits of her life told by her," Minnette explained. "There's a whole life that Hannah had, and there's more we can learn about her. Overall, learning more about her is more important to the entire narrative."

Some of the flashbacks could potentially revisit Hannah's relationship with Clay. However, the actor clarified that the majority of their story was already told before, and there is not much more to tell.

Picking up a few months since the events of season 1, "13 Reasons Why" season 2 has no release date at the moment, but it is expected to return on Netflix sometime this year.
