"Deadly Premonition" and "D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die" creator Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro along with developers from White Owls and G-rounding, announced that "The Good Life" will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter on March 26 (PST).

In a Twitter post on Feb. 7, Swery announced the news. He also included photos of messages from the developers. They recounted that "The Good Life" launched a crowdfunding campaign on Fig last year; however, despite raising $682,864, the game failed to reach its goal and was put on hold. Moreover, they used the time to reevaluate the game as an opportunity to make the game better.

Swery said that their Fig campaign in September was their first crowdfunding campaign. He then admitted that they were not able to prepare enough before the campaign. He also said that their failure to reach their campaign goal may be attributed to the fact that most of the news regarding the game was leaked prior to the launch. Moreover, he said that he is planning to use 120% of what he experienced and learned to make the Kickstarter campaign in March succeed. Swery also announced the six changes that the developers are currently working on to make the game better — build powerful partnerships, change initial amount goal (although he did not indicate what the amount will be), change reward content, enhance the game design, enhance the graphical style and provide gameplay footage.

"The Good Life" was originally pitched as a role-playing game (RPG) about the happiest town on earth named Rainy Woods in England where residents all turn into cats at night. Players will be taking the role of Naomi, a photographer from New York, who planned to turn her life around after accumulating too much debt in the said town.
