'Shameless' season 8 rumors: Fiona to wed again

Rumors claim that Fiona may get married again in "Shameless" season 8. Facebook/Shameless

After having been loveless during the entire season of "Shameless" season 7, it is said that Fiona's (Emmy Rossum) love department will take a positive turn as the eldest Gallagher daughter may finally get married, again, in "Shameless" season 8.

With the death of their mother, Monica (Chloe Webb), in the previous season finale of "Shameless," the Gallagher children are expected to better their lives in the upcoming season 8 of the Showtime series "Shameless." While Fiona is expected to succeed in her real estate venture after purchasing a building in the season 7 finale, it is not the only aspect of her life that is expected to thrive.

To recall, Fiona was first married to Gus (Steve Kazee), the bassist of an indie rock band, in season 5. In season 6, she almost tied the knot again with then-fiancé Sean (Dermot Mulroney) until her father, Frank (William H. Macy), spoiled her wedding day by telling her that her would-be husband is into drugs, too, just like him.

After subjecting Fiona to heartbreaks, "Shameless" season 7 finally featured the character as an independent woman who managed to survive despite the absence of a man in her life. However, it is suspected that her hiatus from having a relationship may soon be over as it is said that she may finally get into a new one in "Shameless" season 8 and may finally get married again.

"She is a damaged woman who comes from damaging parents. When your father is Frank ...you want a different experience of male love, and so, she looks for that. Often, she ends up attracting different versions of Frank, which is some of what we were playing with in the reveal of Sean being a drug user," Krista Vernoff, "Shameless" executive producer told TV Line last year.

While it remains unclear if Fiona will really get married in the upcoming season, rumors also claim that somebody from her past may return in "Shameless" season 8 and win her back anew. As to who among her exes will return, fans can only speculate for now.

Could Fiona's love life be a case of the adage saying, "love is sweeter the second time around?" If it is, will wedding bells ring anew for Fiona?

Fans can only hope so.
