Fans of the FOX comedy "New Girl" would be happy to know that their favorite show will get a proper send-off.

With its final season just around the corner, TVLine is reporting that the show will change it for its farewell. First up, the show jumps four years into the future and reunites with the quirky gang. Fans will be happy to know that Jess (ZooeyDeschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) are back in each other's arm, while Schmidt (Max Greenfied) is enjoying his new role as a stay-at-home dad to his and Cece's (Hannah Simone) daughter Ruth. On the other hand, Winston (Lamorne Morris) and Aly's (Nasim Pedrad) relationship will undergo some major changes.

Back in April, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the executive producers of the show Dave Finkel and Brett Baer said that they were not sure yet if the show will be back for another season, but they were positive and hopeful about it. The duo also added that the network advised them to be prepared to come back. That's why they made the last episode of season 6 to look like the series finale, but at the same time left the door open just in case they need come back to do one more season.

The duo also said that they are excited to explore some of the characters' storylines. They mentioned that they are interested in fleshing out Nick some as they felt that he has grown so much over the years and that there is still more to see of his character. Another storyline that they might focus on is Winston and his promotion at work and engagement with Aly.

There is no official word yet on when the show will return, but it's looking at a spring comeback. However, with the show's eight-episode season, they will be able to properly close out other stories and allow fans see a proper send-off for their beloved show.
