200th Anniversary of Bible Society world-wide

The governor of New South Wales and Patron of Bible Society NSW, Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir AC will officially open Bible Society's new offices in Macquarie Park on Sunday, March 7th at 2pm.

"With Sunday the 200th anniversary of the founding of the British and Foreign Bible Society in London in 1804, this is a very fitting day for us to open our new building," said Bible Society NSW CEO, Daniel Willis. "The NSW branch opened 13 years later in 1817," he said.

Bible Society NSW moved from their previous offices at 95 Bathurst Street at the beginning of the year after 65 years opposite St Andrew's Cathedral and Town Hall Square. "We have kept our bookshop in the central business district, but our new offices and warehouse in Byfield Street, Macquarie Park, will enable us to continue the work of Bible Society in New South Wales into the future," said Daniel.

Also taking part in the opening on Sunday will be the Mayor of Ryde, Councillor Edna Wilde OAM, the Most Rev Peter Jensen, Anglican Archbishop of Sydney and President of Bible Society NSW and representatives from Sydney's churches.

A special guest will be Ms Dawn Cardona - Principal of the Nungalinya Bible College, Northern Territory. Ms Cardona has a special connection with Bible Society NSW with the society providing resources to enable portions of the Bible to be translated into local Aboriginal languages.

Supporters and donors are invited to attend the opening which will be followed by afternoon tea and a tour of the building.
