iOS 10 jailbreak news: Pangu successfully runs Cydia on iOS 10 beta

Apple's upcoming mobile operating system, iOS 10. Apple/iOS 10

During Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) the company showed off the beta version of iOS 10. Although the new iOS build is still new and incomplete, a reporter, Stephen Chan, posted on his blog that the infamous Pangu Team has showcased they are close to fully jailbreaking iOS 10.

According to the report, Pangu made an appearance during the Mobile Security Conference (MOSEC) in Shanghai, China, and during their presentation they not only proved they were working on jailbreaking iOS 10 but also proved that it was possible when they revealed Cydia running on the iOS 10 beta.

Cydia is a front-running system that allows users to load apps not available on the Apple App Store. Installers can be downloaded, allowing users to pirate and install apps they would normally have to pay for, and it can let users run homebrew apps that they or other developers design.

However, as stated in a report from 9to5Mac, this is just Cydia running and not a full jailbreak success. It is also stated that the current attempts are only working for the beta build of iOS 10 and it is likely that the final build will have new patches and security measures to prevent Cydia and other jailbreaking attempts from working.

This would mean that Pangu would need to exert more effort once they figure out what new systems Apple will introduce with the future versions of iOS 10.

According Chan's initial report, Pangu has been silent since they released their jailbreak for iOS 9.1 back in March and the team had confirmed that it is getting more difficult to jailbreak newer iOS versions as Apple's security measures are getting better and more complex. This may lead to a delay for a proper iOS 10 jailbreak.

However, the team also confirmed that this is likely to lead to a possible iOS 9.3.2 or iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak getting released sometime soon.
