Months after the announcement of the big screen adaptation of the popular Japanese anime "Yuri on Ice," details regarding the upcoming film are still unknown, specifically its release date. However, fans of the series' main couple might take pride in knowing that they are one of the most popular pairs on the internet today.

The "Yuri on Ice" movie was officially revealed during an event for the said anime in Chiba, Japan back in April. The voice cast of the series was present to take part in the big reveal. However, since then, no updates regarding the upcoming film have been made. Could they have started working on it already? Perhaps, but fans are still anxious to know more details such as when it will premiere and the plot.

It is no surprise that "Yuri on Ice" would eventually go on to have a movie. The Japanese anime was a big hit and gained so many fans because the stories were realistic and relatable. It was realistic in that the protagonists do not always come out winning in the end — such as Yuri Katsuki, who suffered losses and humiliation. Yuri's journey as the underdog is also one of the reasons why people love the anime so much.

In other news, fans will be happy to know how popular the main pair, Yuri Katsuki and Victor Nikiforov, is on the internet. Tumblr's Fandometrics for this year includes many popular pairs from both the anime scene and K-Pop. Yuri and Victor were ranked as the No. 3 most popular pair on the microblogging website.

Another pair from "Yuri on Ice" is present on the list: Yuri Plisetsky and Otabek Altin, who are in No. 8. Other anime pairs include those from "Fairy Tail" and "My Hero Academia."
