The upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) this February will serve as an expo for tech giants to present their latest flagship offerings this 2018. According to the latest reports, one of the expected participants of the MWC 2018 is the Chinese handset maker Xiaomi, which raises speculations that the rumored Mi 7 smartphone will be unveiled during the event.
As reported by Android Central, the Xiaomi Mi 7 is likely to make an appearance at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona during the last week of February. It is expected that the launch of Mi 6's successor next month will make a big impact, especially that it will be the first smartphone to be presented this year powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. To note, the Snapdragon 845 is the chip maker's latest high-end mobile processor, which boasts greater performance than the Snapdragon 835 used by the 2017 flagships.
Further supporting the claim that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be among the first devices packed with Snapdragon 845 is the presence of Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun at the Snapdragon Tech Summit last month. The company executive pretty much confirmed that Qualcomm's latest chip will be used in one of Xiaomi's upcoming handsets, although it has yet to be seen if one of these will be the Mi 7 smartphone.
Regarding the physical appearance of the Xiaomi Mi 7, previous leaks reveal that the handset will sport a 6-inch display with minimized bezels, amounting to 18:9 screen-to-body ratio. According to Android Headlines, the Mi 7 leaked renders resemble the Xiaomi Mi 6 and OnePlus 5T. The smartphone has the fingerprint reader positioned at the rear panel, where a dual-lens camera, dual LED, and dual-tone flash can also be found. It is also worth noting that the entire back of the Mi 7 is made of glass, which supports the idea that the Mi 7 will feature Qi wireless charging, especially now that the company itself has already joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
