Xbox One update 2018 news: Latest update from Microsoft includes 'do not disturb' mode that will mute messages and notifications

Microsoft recently rolled-out an update for the Xbox One software. One of the biggest features added is a "do not disturb" mode, which will enable gamers to play with less distractions.

Much like in most chat software, Xbox One's "do not disturb" mode adds a status to one's username when activated. This will let the player's friends know not to send messages, invites, or party chats while the player is watching a movie or playing a game.

"Do not disturb" mode also suppresses notifications and other distractions on the Xbox One dashboard. This will mute said notifications until the mode is deactivated again.

The recent update also adds specific game sections to the Xbox One dashboard. A quick glance at a game hub would reveal details about the game. For example, posts looking for groups in the specific game or achievements earned for the title will be displayed in these sections.

Speaking of Achievements, the new updates also adds a section wherein players can check out a list of unaccomplished Achievements. This "next achievement" feature will be a great addition for those who want to target perfect achievements for every title.

Xbox One features an auto-sleep mode, but the timer was limited to two options: one hour or six hours. The recent update gives more control to the player by adding more options to the auto-sleep time, including two, three, four, and five hours.

Dynamic themes are also a new addition brought by the update. This lets players set a specific time for when a particular theme set would appear. For example, players can set a lighter theme during the daytime and then automatically switch to a dark theme in the evening.

The update will be rolled out to Xbox One alpha ring testers first. It will be eventually rolled out to the general public once the updates prove to be bug-free.
