Unlike other couples in WWE, Paige and Alberto Del Rio were split during the draft. The former went to Raw while the latter went to Smackdown. A new report says that WWE deliberately did so.
Professional wrestler Mister Saint Laurent revealed on "The MSL and Sullivan Show" that WWE wanted the superstars "to sever their romantic relationship."
"A lot of people speculated if this was the reason [WWE] split them up in the draft and that's definitely what happened," Saint Laurent continued.
"The company did not want them together. They split them up in the draft by design and they threatened to fire Paige if she didn't break up with Del Rio," he went on to say.
Saint Laurent added that Mark Carrano from WWE talents relations approached both Paige and Del Rio and "harassed" them about their relationship. It is important to note that no confirmation about this has been made yet.
Just recently, Alberto Del Rio was suspended as well as Paige for WWE wellness policy violation. It was then reported that Mexico's Greatest Export has decided to leave WWE altogether, which is a couple of months before his contract expires.
Previous reports also suggested that Triple H reportedly wanted Del Rio out of the company because "he parties too much and is a bad influence" on his girlfriend although this was not confirmed as well.
Paige, on the other hand, was suspended right after she suffered an injury. She has been working on getting back into shape and she appears to be preparing for a return.
Bleacher Report says that Del Rio will not have trouble looking for new wrestling gigs with his talents. The site believes he might be back with the Lucha Underground. The superstar is yet to make his exit official, but it is looking more and more like it.
