In the next episode of "Vikings," Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) goes face-to-face with Queen Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) of Kattegat.
The trailer and promotional pictures for the upcoming installment, which is titled "The Joke," were just released recently, and they show Lagertha, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith), and Halfdan (Jasper Paakkonen) striding together as they go lead their forces against Ivar, King Harald of Tumdrip (Peter Franzen), and Hvitserk (Marco Ilso).
"We are going to war for the kingdom of Kattegat. I am its rightful queen," Lagertha says to her armies. Apparently, she found out from Astrid (Josefin Asplund) that Ivar had plans in motion to attack them. The two warrior factions finally meet on the battlefield. They are all determined to take each other down as they wait for the call from their leaders.
All of a sudden, the call is heard, and the Viking factions rush toward the middle to slay each other. Bjorn gives out a loud cry and charges the oncoming mob. Lagertha is ruthless on the battlefield and immediately tears down her enemies. King Harald sees her from afar and heads in her direction. He is determined to kill her so that he can become the King of Kattegat. It remains to be seen if Lagertha will be able to fend off Ivar and Harald's bloody attack on the field.
In the last episode, Bjorn came back from the Mediterranean to visit Lagertha but found out that her mother was going to be attacked by Ivar. He immediately offered his help and instructed his army to prepare for the impending battle. Bjorn was accompanied Halfdan, who swore allegiance to Lagertha, even if he was the brother of Harald.
"Vikings" season 5 episode 8 will hit the airwaves on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 9 p.m. EST on the History channel.
