In the next episode of "The X-Files," Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully investigate a monster sighting which is somewhat connected to their missing son.

The trailer and promotional photos of the upcoming installment, which is titled "Ghouli," were just recently released, and they show Mulder and Scully going after a lead at an abandoned shipyard. Apparently, their investigation into two girls who attacked each other, leads them there. Strangely enough, both girls thought that the other was a monster which prompted them to go after each other. Inside a broken-down ship, Scully turns a corner and suddenly sees a huge, terrifying creature with tentacle-like appendages. She gets the fright of her life but immediately becomes calm. Mulder comes to her aid but it appears that the monster has gotten away.

Later that night, Scully is in her bed when a kid suddenly appears behind her. She senses that someone is there and instantly turns around to see who's there. She figures that it may be her long-lost son William which starts her going down a spiral. She tells Mulder, "It is William, our son. He wants us to find him." Her chase brings her to an office where an assailant appears and tries to take her down with his gun. However, she fires back and they both go down together.

In the last episode, Mulder and Scully investigated a person name Reggie Something (Brian Huskey), who claimed that he came from a parallel universe. However, it turned out that he just escaped from a mental hospital. Nevertheless, the episode left viewers to think whether or not Reggie was insane or if he really came from another similar dimension.

"The X-Files" season 11 episode 5 will hit the small screens on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
