In the next episode of "The Mayor," Courtney Rose's (Brandon Michael Hall) mom, Dina, goes on an interview to fight back claims made by Ed Gunt (David Spade) against him.

The synopsis and promotional photos for the upcoming installment, which is titled "Mama Rose Best," were just released recently, and they show Dina getting prepared to go on a talk show to help steer the public to finding favor with her son again who is the mayor of Fort Grey.

Apparently, Gunt did not like how Courtney was running the local government, so he formed a movement of townspeople to question the mayor's trustworthiness. It seems that the movement has gained some traction as Courtney now has to enlist his mom to do an interview to do some damage control. However, things take an awkward turn when Dina reveals something about Courtney.

Dina is very close to her son and tends to give out too much information when emotions run high. Courtney's staff, including Valentina Barella (Lea Michele) and Jermaine Leforge (Bernard David Jones), looks on as Dina tries to backtrack at what she said. Her comments cause an awkward tension between them, but she can do nothing as she is live on television. It remains to be seen what will be the outcome of that interview and if they will be able to save Courtney's reputation with the public.

In the last episode, Courtney visited a homeless shelter on Christmas Eve but realized that everything was on a small budget. He recalled that Christmas gatherings there were more generous and festive. He asked for a budget from Gunt, but the latter refused which prompted him to lose hope. However, after a strange dream that he had, Courtney suddenly had a renewed fervor for Christmas.

"The Mayor" season 1 episode 10 will air on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
