In the next episode of "The Magicians," Quentin (Jason Ralph), Julia (Stella Maeve), Eliot (Hale Appleman), Margo (Summer Bishil), and the rest of the group prepare themselves for a colossal mission to retrieve the seven keys.

The trailers and promotional photos of the upcoming installment, which is titled "Heroes and Morons," were just recently released, and they show Quentin, Julia, and Josh (Trevor Einhorn) going through some books in their dormitory in order to find the keys that could unleash magic in the realms again.

Quentin starts reading the book titled "Tales of the Seven Keys." According to that legend, there once lived a King and his daughter in a far-off land. He loved his princess very much, but one day, a witch appeared and took him away from his daughter.

The princess pleaded with the witch to return him, but she presented her with a quest instead. If the daughter was able to find the seven keys, she would be able to open the door of the remote castle over the ocean and free him. Quentin realizes that they need to find the keys, starting with the first one from the book.

Strangely enough, the succeeding chapters are not written yet. Josh figures out that once they locate the first key, the following chapters will appear in the magical book.

In the last episode, Fillory was still devoid of magic since Quentin killed Ember (Dominic Burgess) in the last season. Without magic, the realm would slowly descend into chaos and get destroyed. Quentin, Eliot, and the rest of the students decided to combine their strengths and find a solution to the ever-growing problem. Quentin went back to Brakebills to do some research.

"The Magicians" season 3 episode 2 will hit the airwaves on Wednesday, Jan 17, at 9 p.m. EST on the Syfy channel.
