"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" just recently got its second downloadable content (DLC) "The Champion's Ballad." Yet developers of the game are already talking about making the next game in the beloved franchise.

Hidemaro Fujibayashi, director of the acclaimed game, said that he has a lot of motivation and ideas for the next Zelda game. However, he said in an interview with IGN that he was not sure yet whether the new stuff will come in the form of sequels or a continuation.

In the same interview, Fujibayashi shared that he gets motivated even by the smallest demands by the fans. "Even in situations like this, talking to people and finding out that people want to pet dogs gives me a lot of motivation, a lot of ideas for things we could put into the game," the director said.

Meanwhile, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" producer Eiji Aonuma expressed that DLC was one of the best things that happened in the Zelda franchise. Prior to "Breath of the Wild," the main series Zelda games were developed with standalone worlds. Further expansion or new mechanics are either released with a new game or a remake (as in the case of "Ocarina of Time," "Majora's Mask," and Wind Waker").

However, DLC makes expanding the world of "Breath of the Wild" much convenient.

"In the past, we always had to start from zero again ... but because we did a DLC, we realized it's a great way to kind of just improve that world," Aonuma said. He further drives the point home by saying that adding DLC is in a way like raising "your own child."

In any case, Zelda developers are not resting their laurels on their latest masterpiece. After "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" was named Game of the Year, only time will tell what surprises await fans in the next Zelda title.
