Naughty Dog might be putting "The Last of Us 2" on the backburner at the moment as it works on bringing the remastered version of the original to the PlayStation 4 Pro.

The remaster of the action-adventure survival horror video game originally released for 2013 was shown during the PlayStation Meeting last Sept. 7. There, it was revealed that it will run in native 4K on Sony's new console although no demo was shown.

According to Richard Leadbetter of Digital Foundry, "The Last of Us" remastered will be in native 4K on the PS4 Pro while it can also toggle between 1080p resolution and 4K resolution.

"The PlayStation 4 version has that 30 Hz mode, which has higher resolution shadow maps but otherwise it's just a locked 30 fps ... on the PS4 Pro version, you keep the enhanced shadow map detail but you also get native 4K," Leadbetter said.

"So yeah, we have actually got a confirmed case of full native 4K game that will be available for the PlayStation 4 Pro launch," he went on to say.

Leadbetter also stated that "The Last of Us" remastered version can deliver 60 frames per second (FPS). He added that Naughty Dog also promised that the performance of the 1080p gameplay will be much better in the PS4 Pro.

As for "The Last of Us 2," Gamereactor recently debunked a purported leak of what appears to be a magazine article about the sequel. The article stated that it will be set five years after the events in the original and will boast bigger areas.

The sources of the publication, which it deems reliable, claim that the article, which also stated that the game will be released in 2018, is nothing but an elaborate hoax.

With that being said, fans are once again left in the dark with no fresh details about "The Last of Us 2."
