Classic and retro games have been making a comeback for the past few years as more and more indie developers are getting the support of players interested in these games. Now, a brand new game called "Tanglewood" is apparently in the works and strangely enough has been developed to be a brand new game for the 26-year old Sega console, the Sega Mega Drive.

The unique aspect of the upcoming 2D platform video game is that its developers are actually using the original coding tools that were used to create games for the decades-old gaming system. The game is being developed by U.K. games developer, Matt Phillips, who launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund his project.

The game's Kickstarter page revealed that Phillips actually acquired some original '90s development hardware and then proceeded to learn how to code games for the Sega Mega Drive. When the game is completed, Phillips plans to release the game as a downloadable digital copy for the PC, Mac, and Linux, as well as a cartridge that fans can use on their Sega Mega Drive. Interested fans can therefore dust off their old consoles and then plug in the game to once again experience the excitement of loading up a brand new title for their systems.

"I've wanted to do something like this since I was 9 years old and got the Sega Mega Drive. I want this to be the real thing, and I'm following as many original processes as I can." Phillips mentioned in a recent interview.

The game itself will be reminiscent of other classic titles like "The Lion King," "Alladin," and "Sonic the Hedgehog" in which players will be required to finish different stages and solve different puzzles. Players will get to control a fox-like creature named "Nymm" who must go through a creepy forest called "Tanglewood" in order to find his pack. The game's Kickstarter page has so far earned more than $15,000 of its $60,000 crowdfunding goal. "Tanglewood" is scheduled to be released in November 2017.
