It seems that the sequel to "Suicide Squad" is about to start production a lot sooner than expected. A new report stated that the Academy Award-winning movie will be starting principal photography in a matter of months.

The group of villains are coming back together, and according to a listing from My Entertainment World, filming for "Suicide Squad 2" will begin in the middle of March in 2018. This report follows the rumors of a big delay in principal photography until the latter part of the year due to Will Smith's schedule.

This announcement follows the news that Gavin O'Connor will be writing and directing the second installment. O'Connor replaced David Ayer, who directed the first film. Ayer stepped down from directorial duties in the sequel to work with the "Gotham City Sirens" movie, which focuses on Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Poison Ivy, and Catwoman.

Other than Robbie's Harley Quinn, it is assumed that the surviving characters from the first film will all be reprising their roles in the second. Among those characters will be Jared Leto's Joker. However, while it does seem that Leto will be coming back to play the clown prince of crime, Warner Bros. has some plans for the character in other films, one of which is the Joker origin film and the Joker and Harley Quinn duo movie with Robbie.

No other updates regarding the official plot as of now, as well as announcements on who are officially confirmed to join the sequel. However, knowing that the film is steadily in development is a good thing.

In other news, another solo movie is in the works at Warner Bros. as a Deathstroke movie is currently in development with Gareth Evans to direct the film. Joe Mangianello is highly likely going to be playing the titular character, after having been attached to the role for some time since the early development of Ben Affleck's Batman solo film, which is now helmed by Matt Reeves.

"Suicide Squad 2" is scheduled to premiere in 2019.
