"Star Wars Rivals," the highly anticipated action-shooter mobile game from the Star Wars franchise, is now available for pre-registration.

Such was recently announced by Lucasfilm and Disney. While there is still no official release date in sight, it at least gives players a chance to get great bonuses when the game becomes playable.

The excitement surrounding the game is mostly due to it being the first ever real-time action-shooter mobile game from the franchise. Additionally, the game will also let players experience Star Wars' most memorable conflicts throughout the saga. This will be accompanied by a heavy lineup of playable characters, all coming from different eras in the franchise.

The twist here is that players will get a chance to swap characters amid different conflicts, strategizing which character is best suited for the battle. Like other games, "Star Wars Rivals" also features characters that players can unlock along the way.

"The game play is rooted in cover-based PvP skirmishes," according to Disney.

About the PvP skirmishes of this game, players can expect an action-packed multiplayer mode as well. The game will give them the opportunity to enlist in a guild to form strategies and increase ranking in leaderboards.

While still unavailable, enlisting in the pre-registration in Google Play and App store will create a scenario wherein Death Troopers (for Android) or Rebel Special Forces (for iOS) will fight alongside the player in PvP skirmishes.

These additional support characters in the game are donned with special armor and advanced weaponry. According to the Star Wars official page, this feature is "something even Director Krennic would love."

While some fans might be impatient, Google Play Store has given everyone a chance to be a tester for the improvement of the game's development. That's not a bad deal, considering it is free of charge and easy to download.
