'Star Wars Battlefront 2' release date news: Sequel to be released in Fall 2017

While the previously released action shooter video game "Star Wars Battlefront" had answered the prayers of die-hard "Star Wars" fans in terms of a worthy video game title for the franchise, some of its gameplay elements was a bit of a hit-and-miss for critics. The game itself, of course, had faithfully incorporated the design and concept of the larger "Star Wars" universe, but some critics and gamers had been quite disappointed in its lackluster multiplayer elements, among other repetitive features.

However, EA seems to want to rectify the situation and has now announced the release window of their second attempt at creating a truly worthy title in the form of a brand new "Star Wars Battlefront" sequel. Just a few months ago, EA had confirmed that they were in fact going to be creating another "Star Wars" video game and that it would be coming out sometime in 2017.

At the recently held EA earnings call event with investors, the company had narrowed down the release schedule to be sometime during the end of 2017, or within Fall of next year.

EA's chief financial officer — Blake Jorgensen — also reiterated their desire to improve the overall "Star Wars" experience with their next title, apparently applying what they have learned in the recently released game.

"We're working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering," Jorgensen said during the earnings call.

Aside from "Star Wars Battlefront 2," EA is also planning to create several other titles that are all going to be set in the larger "Star Wars" universe. The company likely wants to take advantage of their exclusivity deal with Disney and churn out as many titles as they can for the franchise before the deal expires.

Apart from EA, several other companies — including Visceral Games and Respawn Entertainment — have also revealed their own plans of releasing "Star Wars" titles in the coming years.
