When "P.T." — the playable teaser for the now cancelled "Silent Hills" game — first came out on PlayStation 4, it was an instant cult hit. Despite its short length and the fact that it was just a demo, it quickly became one of the best horror games in recent history. Unfortunately, "Silent Hills" ended up getting cancelled and "P.T." was removed from the PlayStation Store, never to be played again. That is until some dedicated fans decided to use their own skills to completely remake "P.T." for PCs.
The first of these remakes is called Corridor and is being developed by user SmoggyChips in Unreal Engine 4. It is still currently in the prototype phase so do not be surprised if there are still numerous bugs and issues that need to be sorted out. The developer has stated that they plan to update it in the future to add more levels, features, and stabilize the game. Those interested in giving it a shot can try out an early build of the game here.
Another remake comes from Reddit user LinusPixel who has been uploading snippets of their version on the "Silent Hills" subreddit. While SmoggyChips is using Unreal Engine 4, LinusPixel opted to use Unity as well as ripped assets from the original game itself.
"In the past, people have tried single-handedly recreating PT from scratch, but I'm confident I can do it using all of the sounds, models, materials and textures from the original game," said LinusPixel in a comment regarding the project. A very early prototype of this version can be found here.
While both these projects are far from being complete, it is exciting to see just how far either creator can go with remaking the original game. These projects were brought to public attention, thanks to a report by DSO Gaming.
