She-Ra will be taking the spotlight away from He-Man, as streaming giant Netflix has announced a standalone television series for fantasy cartoon heroine.

Also known as Adora, the Princess of Power and the sister of He-Man, she will be having her own show along with six other cartoons which Netflix is bringing in for next year. Netflix will be working with DreamWorks Animation to bring the 1980s cartoon icon back to life, in line with today's increasing trend of strong female lead characters both in film and television.

The project will also be spearheaded by writer and award-winning cartoonist Noelle Stevenson, as he will be taking assuming the role of executive producer for "She-Ra." It is worth noting that it will be an updated version of "She-Ra: Princess of Power," which is a spinoff of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe."

Stevenson will apparently add in a modern take on "She-Ra" to make the character more relevant and popular with the current generation. The show will also be promoting women empowerment and female friendship, where She-Ra has also been reworked to fit in with today's standards. "She-Ra" will also be one of the most highly anticipated Netflix shows of 2018 since it is the only one in their lineup that is a reboot of a '80s show.

Apart from the executive producer of the reboot for "She-Ra," not much has been revealed yet by both Netflix and DreamWorks. It is, however, rumored that the villains Hordak and Catra might be making appearances on the show, as was indicated by series storyboard artist Mickey Quinn.

Fans of She-Ra who are also worried that their favorite female character might get ruined need not fret anymore as "He-Man" reference book writer James Eatock has seen the series script and actually loved it. He also commended the story arc of the upcoming series and complimented the writers for doing their homework and staying faithful to the franchise.

No exact release has been announced or hinted yet, but "She-Ra" is expected to arrive sometime in 2018.
