'Rune: Ragnarok' releases pre-alpha trailer

"Rune: Ragnarok" just released their pre-alpha trailer Rune: Ragnarok official website

Video game developer Human Head Studios has finally released the pre-alpha trailer for "Rune: Ragnarok," the follow-up gaming title to 2001's "Rune."

Taking place in an open world fantasy based on Norse Mythology, "Rune: Ragnarok" is a Viking RPG that is described as intense and brutal. Even though the trailer is only for the pre-alpha version of the game, the gameplay already looks impressive, and the trailer also showed some of the creatures players need to defeat such as dragons, giants, sea creatures, and large wolves.

"Inspired by the legends of Norse mythology, Rune: Ragnarok takes place in a perilous universe during the end of days, where gods, beasts, and the last remaining humans struggle to survive," read the game's press release.

"Upon pledging allegiance to their chosen god, players gain divine favor and special abilities to aid them in their quest. Sail to new lands, raid enemy villages, battle supernatural creatures in brutal melee combat, and craft powerful weapons to take down Loki and bring an end to Ragnarok."

Based on the information stated on the official website of the game, the gods mentioned in the press release are composed of the major gods in Norse Mythology such as Thor, Odin, Hel, Freya, and Loki. It isn't mentioned whether other Norse gods will be present in the game.

Aside from the trailer, there isn't much to know about "Rune: Ragnarok," including its release date and console compatibility. The game is initially announced to be exclusively available on PC, but that may still change in the days ahead of the release.

However, a FAQ was compiled on the game's official website, featuring questions pertaining to gameplay and character design. According to the developers, the game will feature character creation with standard options including "male or female, head type, hairstyle, skin tone, scars, and tattoos." Upon the release of the game, players should also expect single player and multiplayer PvP and PvE game modes.

Although it's impossible for "Rune: Ragnarok" to be released this year, players who want to get their hands on the game early can participate in its closed beta testing starting early this year.
