Last year's flagship handsets like the iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S8 wowed the public with their innovative features like facial recognition and immersive Infinity display. However, a much younger tech company is taking the smartphone experience to the next level with the first-ever holographic display. RED Studios has confirmed that the Hydrogen One will be shipped in summer 2018.

RED Studios CEO Jim Jannard announced through the company's forum site that the Hydrogen One is finally coming this summer, or sometime between June to September. As reported by The Verge, Jannard also teased the possibility of top US mobile carriers supporting the smartphone after its release. He did not specify which carrier companies will be supporting the Hydrogen One, although he described that the carrier support would be "as good as it gets." Perhaps many carriers are expected to distribute the handset, with companies with strong coverage area like Verizon on top of the list.

It was previously revealed by RED Studios that the Hydrogen One would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. At the time of this announcement, the Snapdragon 835 was the high-end mobile chipset from Qualcomm. After several months, the handset maker unveiled the Snapdragon 845, thus making Hydrogen One's processor quite outdated. Nevertheless, the rest of the hardware specs of the smartphone is still impressive, with a whopping 4,500mAh battery and dual SIM slot.

Of course, the highlight of RED Hydrogen One is its 5.7-inch screen display with 2,560x1,440 pixel resolution, which is capable of showing holographic 4-view content and 3D images. The smartphone also has a special camera that can capture videos in 2D, 3D, and RED's very own 4V file format. Other features of the Hydrogen One include USB-C port, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, and dual-lens setup for the rear and front-facing shooters.
