Since the release of the highly popular western open world video game "Red Dead Redemption" more than six years ago, talks about its impending sequel has been circulating online non-stop.

Rockstar Games has yet to officially announce any details regarding the sequel, but that hasn't stopped reports from trying to predict its possible release date. The initial rumors had initially pegged the release of the sequel during the launch of Sony's new console, the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro. However, Sony already announced the PlayStation 4 Pro, and the console is slated for a November release.

Now, according to the latest rumors, "Red Dead Redemption 2" will likely be coming out sometime next year. The title will allegedly be released alongside Microsoft's next generation console, Project Scorpio. If the rumor does prove itself to be true then the sequel could be coming out at the end of 2017 when the new console is scheduled to launch.

Fans, of course, were reassured when Rockstar Games' parent company — Take-Two Interactive — mentioned that the franchise itself was a permanent part of their lineup and that they would be developing a sequel soon. Unfortunately, the company had neglected to mention when exactly they would start development on "Red Dead Redemption 2."

As for the game itself, there had previously been numerous leaks that had been uncovered which includes an alleged map for the upcoming game. The leaked map shows the Great Plains and Blackwater City, which were both featured in the original game, but within a significantly larger area.

Reports have also revealed that the sequel will likely have a title that will not include the word "Redemption" and would probably be called "Red Dead 2." Rockstar Games has not yet confirmed any of the rumors, which is why they should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
